- Description: In a 120-participant phase 2 trial in Chinese adults with overweight or obesity and no diabetes, once-weekly BGM0504 produced mean weight loss of 10.7% to 18.3% across three doses at 24 weeks, against a 0.1% gain on placebo, with mostly gastrointestinal adverse events rising with dose.

A phase 2 randomised trial assigned 120 Chinese adults with overweight or obesity and without diabetes to once-weekly subcutaneous BGM0504 at 5, 10 or 15 mg or to placebo for 24 weeks. Mean weight change was -10.68%, -16.07% and -18.33% across the doses against +0.13% on placebo, with waist circumference down by 8.9 to 14.4 cm. Drug-related adverse events rose with dose from 53% to 93%, mostly gastrointestinal, with one serious adverse event and no withdrawals, in a trial too small and too short to show durability or rarer harms.

*Why it is interesting: Phase 2 evidence for a dual GLP-1/GIP agonist developed outside the two established manufacturers, in a Chinese population without diabetes, over 24 weeks and 120 participants.*
