# A nutrition-inflammation index tracked short-term mortality in ICU kidney injury

A retrospective cohort from the MIMIC-IV intensive care database examined the advanced lung cancer inflammation index, body mass index times serum albumin divided by the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, in 1,887 adults with acute kidney injury. In-hospital mortality was 25.2% and 90-day mortality 33.9%, and each log unit of the index carried an in-hospital mortality hazard ratio of 0.86 (95% CI 0.79-0.93) after full adjustment. The association weakened substantially on adjustment and was largely confined to non-septic cases, without external validation.
