OUTSTAND-1 was a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of safiglipron, a once-daily oral small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist, in people with type 2 diabetes who were not on glucose-lowering medication. Over 32 weeks the drug lowered HbA1c by up to 1.45 percentage points relative to placebo, while the effect on body weight was modest. The trial covers glycaemic and weight endpoints over a short horizon.
