SIMPLER is a Swedish research infrastructure built from two prospective cohorts, the Swedish Mammography Cohort and the Cohort of Swedish Men. Baseline data were collected from 61,433 women in 1987-90 and from 45,906 men in 1997, all living in central Sweden. Participants have completed questionnaires on diet, lifestyle and health about every ten years, linked to national registers for diagnoses, mortality, dispensed medicines and socioeconomic status. Smaller groups within each cohort, 8,046 women and 4,773 men, also gave health examinations and repeated blood, saliva, urine, stool and fat tissue samples. Molecular (omics) measurements are available for about 12,800 participants and genomic data for about 51,000\. The cohorts cover central Sweden only, and the paper describes the resource rather than reporting any finding from it.

*Why it is interesting: Repeated dietary and lifestyle reporting since 1987 can be read against register-recorded diagnoses, prescriptions and deaths. Blood, urine, stool and tissue samples sit alongside genomic data on about 51,000 of the same participants.*
