MoMo 2.0 drew a representative sample of German children and adolescents aged 4 to 17 and measured height and weight in the field for 3,978 participants between 2023 and 2025, using an inverse probability of participation alignment factor to compare with earlier waves. Overweight and obesity combined stood at 16.1% (95% CI 14.5 to 17.9) and obesity alone at 6.7% (95% CI 5.5 to 8.1). The authors report prevalence as stable over the past two decades.
Why it is interesting: The prevalence comes from measured rather than self-reported height and weight, and the trend against earlier waves is flat.
