The review surveys the mechanisms and trial evidence for GLP-1 receptor agonists in cardiometabolic disease, drawing on large cardiovascular-outcome trials in type 2 diabetes and on SELECT in overweight or obesity without diabetes. It reports consistent reductions in major adverse cardiovascular events, all-cause mortality and heart-failure hospitalisations, with part of the SELECT benefit described as independent of weight loss. No new data are presented.
Why it is interesting: A compact statement of where the GLP-1 cardiovascular evidence stands, though it adds no new estimate.
