The study linked Taiwan Biobank genotypes to National Health Insurance claims for 140,000 people, covering 42 non-communicable diseases. Those with the top-decile polygenic risk suffered a fifth of Taiwan's atrial fibrillation cases, and spent 24% more days in hospital.
Why it is interesting: Earlier polygenic burden estimates were European; here the claims record also shows hospital use.
